Rate Sequencing

Use Rate Sequencing to control the ranking order in which your rate plans or items are displayed in each distribution channel. Rate sequence is determined by the order value set in the Parameters using the Channels tab for the rate or using the Rate Sequencing option on the Property Dashboard.

If individual channels have no display order, rate strategy puts them in alphabetical order, even if an order is defined at a higher level. Order is not inherited.

New rates will always be added to the bottom of the list; therefore, ranking order is not inherited.

Rate sequencing and channel parameters override each other; the last one used sets the current state; when set here, rate sequencing overrides display order values set in the parameters field in the Channels tab for the rate or item.

Sequencing set here assigns ranking values by 10s (1st, 2nd, and 3rd entries will show with ranking values of 10, 20, and 30 in the channel parameters).

Rate sequencing set at a parent level distribution channel is inherited by any associated child level distribution channel. However, rate sequencing can be overridden at the child level.

Sequencing Rates

To assign the ranking order to rates:

Select the Rate Sequencing option on the Property Dashboard. The Rate Sequencing Rates screen appears.
Do one of the following:

Select the All Public Categories - Excludes Qualified Rates option to show all rate categories (excluding rates with contracts).

or,

Select the Rate Category option and the rate category to display from the drop-down.

Use the Channels tree to locate the distribution channel you want to assign a ranking order to for the rates or rate category. Use the right arrow to expand the tree.
Click a channel name to select it (channel name is highlighted). Your rates are displayed in the Description column on the screen.

Note: If sequencing has been inherited from another level in the Channels tree, that channel will be displayed in the Channel column on the screen.

Select the Sequence this Channel checkbox.
Select a rate name to highlight it.
Use the arrow buttons above the Description/Channel section to reposition the rate as follows:

Left most button to move the selected item to the top of the list.

Second button from the left to move the selected item up one position.

Third button from the left to move the selected item down one position.

Right most button to move the selected item to the bottom of the list.

Do one of the following:

Select another rate to reposition and repeat steps 6 and 7.

or,

Clear the Sequence this Channel checkbox.

Click Save Rate Sequencing button to save the ranking order for the selected channel. The Successfully Updated message appears.
Click the OK button.
Do one of the following:

Select another distribution channel and repeat the steps above.

or,

Click the property name at the top of the screen to return to the Property Dashboard.

Sequencing Items

To assign a ranking order to items:

Click the Rate Sequencing option on the Property Dashboard. The Rate Sequencing Rates screen appears.
Select the Items option. The Rate Sequencing Items screen appears.
Expand the Channels tree, by clicking the right arrow, until you find the distribution channel you want to assign a ranking order to for items.
Click a channel name to select it (channel name is highlighted). Your items are displayed in the Description column of the screen.
Select an item name to highlight it.
Use the arrow buttons above the Description/Channel section to reposition the rate as follows:
